That was the problem with being so high Up, wasn't it? It was maybe for the best then that Kai had paused his seemingly eternal climb partway through, catching his hands on his knees. Geez. He wasn't super out of shape, but geez. He couldn't stop for too long though. That soft glow in his hand was compelling him further.

At the very least he'd take a moment to just... look up into those branches and wonder if any of the small lights he could see twinkling up there were the same as the one in his hand. Whether or not they were looking at the same stars wasn't something he was worried about, but he'd really rather they'd be able to do that together sooner than later.

That gaze turned behind him one more time, giving the ground floor as best a onceover as he could from here. It would be a lot harder to keep an eye on it all the way up there, so one more look over the people he could see. The town seemed like one that was never truly asleep, but it sure was a lot quieter now. Someone shouting out from the stairs might have been that much more obvious.

Hopefully that was the case, because Something had caught his eye moving out of the shadows. It was time to shout both their names again at the top of his lungs, lifting that glowing little trinket high above his head as if it were big enough to truly see.

It made him feel better, anyway.
